Former Punjab convener and senior leader Gurpreet Singh Waraich "Ghuggi" resigned from the AAP on Wednesday expressing displeasure over the manner in which he was removed as State convener.
Gurpreet Singh Waraich was the former convenor of Punjab Unit of AAP.
"He (Ghuggi) is like my brother and we worked together in the entertainment industry for many years, but, if he has separated himself from the party due to ideological reasons, I can't do anything now, I wish he had stayed", said Mann on the phone.
"I had joined this party with high hopes, but today I am resigning from its primary membership with a heavy heart".
As the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is dealing with the fallout of suspended Delhi water resources minister Kapil Mishra's serious corruption allegations against party chief Arvind Kejriwal, the party seems to be in trouble once again, and this time in Punjab.
Summary: Dhaliwal claimed that AAP's centre leadership had adopted a democratic way before finalising the name of Mann.
Hertz Shares Plunge After Company Widens Loss, Misses Expectations
In that light, it seems in good position compared to its peers but weakness can be witnessed when compared with the sector. Is it turning profits into returns? Other institutional investors also recently modified their holdings of the company.
Notably, the rejig was followed by resignation of senior leader and MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira as party spokesperson and chief whip in the Punjab Assembly.
Fact: What did Ghuggi say?
"They chose to pick and choose amongst the 20 party MLAs and other members and said they had taken a decision to appoint a new convener. They should have been included in the selection process", he said adding that AAP was deviating from its principles. "But they closed doors for all good people", he said.
Ghuggi, however, didn't rule out the possibility of joining another political party.
Mann said he had supported Ghuggi after he was made the state convener.
Apparently while interacting with the media Bhagwant Mann further added that the party was gearing up to "expose the Congress-Akali-BJP nexus. If you really want to give him the position then you should have waited for at least months so he could quit his drinking habit", he said. "I can't work under the leadership of a person who has been appointed (by party convener Arvind Kejriwal) on the condition that he will not drink (alcohol)". The resignation of Khaira was in protest for Mann's selection.
