There are already more than 500 fixed and mobile Israeli checkpoints across the occupied West Bank and Palestinians using them face different treatment every time they have to pass through.

Palestinian witnesses say an Israeli settler opened fire on a crowd of Palestinian protesters after his auto was attacked by demonstrators Thursday.

Thousands of people demonstrated in various parts of the West Bank, occupied since 1967 by the Israeli army, and near the security barrier that seals off the Gaza Strip, AFP journalists said.

"The next 48 hours are critical".

"Israel's establishing of West Bank settlement, including in East Jerusalem, has no legal validity and constitutes a flagrant violation of worldwide law and a major obstacle to the achievement of the two-state solution", the resolution reads. The killing of the two victims brings the number of Palestinians, who were fatally shot by Israeli fire since October 1st 2015, to 312, 299 of them were instantly killed, and 13 others died later from serious wounds. In video footage published to YouTube, Mohammed can be seen injured, wearing a protective vest and helmet, not far from the slain protester, whom the Palestinian Ma'an News Agency subsequently identified as Muataz Hussein Hilal, 23.

Weeks earlier, a 13-year-old Palestinian girl was gunned down with multiple shots by Israeli police near the Old City of Jerusalem after she threatened them with a knife.

Furthermore, leaders of the various political factions in Gaza united in the West Bank by holding a press conference and warning of a military confrontation with Israel if any of the hunger-strikers died.
