When the US actually completes to process of pulling out from the Paris agreement, which would take years, it would join Nicaragua - who thought the accord didn't go far enough in combating climate change - and Syria - who didn't want to be beholden to other governments - as the only holdouts.

The CEO of Murray Energy is applauding U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the Paris climate agreement, and says he's not impressed with how Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who supports the accord, is leading the country.

Gov. David Ige (D) signed the law in a Tuesday ceremony, saying Hawaii is the first state to put its commitments to Paris into legislation and pass it.

"People come to Hawaii to enjoy its environment", Glenn said. "Tides are getting higher, biodiversity is shrinking, coral is bleaching, coastlines are eroding, weather is becoming more extreme". Much of the bill's language makes reference to the worldwide scope of the problem, and celebrates that almost every country on earth came together to dedicate resources to fighting climate change.

Because we played well in Game 3, and they were able to get that one as well", he added. CLEVELAND (AP) - LeBron James and Kyrie Irving couldn't be stopped.

State Sen. J. Kalani English, who introduced the bill, said the measure "gives us legal basis to continue adaptation and mitigation strategies for Hawai'i, despite the Federal government's withdrawal from the treaty". He also signed HB 1578, which creates a Carbon Farming Task Force to ID agricultural and aquacultural practices in improving soil health and "the capture of long-term storage of atmospheric carbon dioxide to mitigate climate change". Hawaii is joining at least 12 other states that have formed the U.S. Climate Alliance and promised to remain committed to the goals in the Paris deal.

But the mayors' article his back at Trump: "Though separated by an ocean and a language, we share a desire to do what is best for our citizens and our planet", the pair wrote.

Trump's announcement that the United States would withdraw from the global accord drew ridicule from foreign leaders around the world and made the U.S. one of only three countries not signed up to the accord, the others being Nicaragua and Syria.

Hawaii became the first state Tuesday to enact a law that aligns with the Paris agreement. With Trump pulling out of the agreement, the USA will join only two other countries that have not ratified the pact: Syria and Nicaragua.
