"T20 and ODI are ideal platforms to promote women's cricket", she said, though aware that she has played only 10 Tests in her 18-year-old career.

After scripting a fairy-tale performance in the recently concluded ICC Women's World Cup in England, the Indian Women's Cricket Team have been welcomed home with much adulation.

Now women's cricket has come under the BCCI, which has proposed to gift Rs 50 lakh each to each team member for their performance in the ICC Women's World Cup.

The players were felicitated by Fadnavis at Vidhan Bhawan.

Asked if there should be a tournament like the Indian Premier League for women in India, Mithali said this was something for the Board of Control for Cricket in India to deal with.

"Our women's cricket team has done exceedingly well and any form of appreciation will be less for them".

Within minutes, the captain was informed that "the ship is manned and ready and reports for duty to the fleet". The Navy received the Ford on May 31 after the carrier successfully completed acceptance trials on May 26.

This was the second instance when an Indian team made it to the final of Women's World Cup.

"I can proudly say that I have led the team well", Mithali said, summing up her own tournament. There must be a proper balance between Tests and limited overs cricket but the Indian board alone can't do it. "Now is the time to start some type of league and involve domestic players", said Mithali Raj.

Mithali also hailed her side for giving a fight before narrowly going down in the final against England. "We had targetted a semi-final berth initially but they went beyond that".

'I always believed if more matches are televised we can attract more people, ' said Raj, who became the leading runscorer in women's One-day Internationals during the event. But I would have preferred to be a winning captain. "I have also watched the match", a statement from the Chief Minister's office quoted him as saying.

Besides announcing a cash prize of Rs 25 lakhs to Coach Murthy, the CM also announced Rs one crore cash prize for Ms Mithali Raj and said 600 sq yds house plot will be given to her in Banjara Hills.
