Hello Games' willingness to adapt to its fans' desires is noteworthy, particularly because some of its post-launch changes to No Man's Sky have seemed to contradict the studio's original vision for a "chill game".

The game at its launch had over 200,000 players logged in playing the game. In the Atlas Rises story, the fabric of existence is starting to falter. A mysterious new interdimensional race have appeared.

Ancient portals can now be activated.

Away from the actual gameplay, several aspects of the game's interface have also been tweaked - including a new look to the galaxy menu, which can now be used to check the wealth, economy and conflict levels to different star systems. If you have the terraforming add-on, you can shoot at the ground using your multi tool and add or destroy terrain. It's been re-calibrated to give you more info and better rewards for scanning everything you see.

Darby is under contract for two more years, which is perhaps where the Bills get off asking for more out of the swap. If Darby does that, this grade could be substantially better - and nobody will care about that third-round pick.

The developer has also made bew improvements to space flight and combat, with the enemy artificial intelligence having been overhauled, and new difficulties have been added. If you're looking for simple visual confirmation that a game, which at launch was a little squiggly when eyeballing anything up close, has completely changed its colors, the update's teaser screens more than suffice. Instead, they will be represented by glowing orbs.

To be precise, up to 16 players can see and communicate with each other as floating sparkly orbs (it's nearly reminiscent of what happens when you die in World of Warcraft).

"While interaction with others is now very limited, this is an important first step into the world of synchronous co-op in No Man's Sky", said Hello Games. So at least this is something it's working towards.

The Atlas Rises update is out today and available for free.

Whether you choose to fight, trade or explore, every decision you make has consequences, shaping your journey as you travel ever deeper into No Man's Sky. Players can see and communicate with each other using VOIP, but otherwise cannot interact directly. In the last eight weeks a quarter of a million players from across the globe (174 countries, to be precise!) have come together - united by a shared love of mystery and science fiction - to form the Citizen Science Division.
