When asked if the Palestinians still place hope on the efforts of the administration and the delegates' visits to the region, Abbas' deputy answered, "You could say that we don't have any more delusions regarding the fact that their (the Americans') policies will lead to some sort of result". Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, along with peace envoy Jason Greenblatt and Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategy Dina Powell, met with Abbas on August 24 as part of a trip to the region aimed at looking at trying to renew peace negotiations.

The traveling delegation met with leaders from the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia early this week before heading to Israel on Wednesday. Also, the team will examine economic steps ahead of a potential peace deal.

Kushner met with PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday، who said he highly appreciated Trump's peace efforts.

Abbas on the other hand wanted Kushner and his peace delegation, which includes Dina Powell and Jason Greenblatt, to commit to 1967 borders for a two-state solution.

US officials have said that they have not ruled out a two-state solution but that it is up to the two sides, not them, to agree on a way forward.
