Spotify's New $4.99 Student Bundle Adds Free Hulu Subscription

The offer pairs Spotify Premium and Hulu's on-demand streaming plan (yes, with ads) at a price cheaper than either would cost individually to regular customers.

The Spotify and Hulu bundle is available for undergrads today, and current students taking advantage of Spotify Premium already can now upgrade to the Hulu plan for free.

The companies on Thursday announced that they will start offering Hulu with limited advertising and Spotify Premium for $5 per month. Though this is the first time the music streamer has joined forces with another site, it's just another day at the office for Hulu, which bundles premium-cable offerings with its services.

The new offer from Spotify and Hulu is available to all USA college students, and is a new type of a bundle between a music streaming services and one streaming video.

Coming together with Hulu doesn't in any way mean that Spotify is giving up on original video or shifting its strategy, however; these are still fundamentally two different services.

Streaming services can be a great way to cut the cord but sooner or later the more services you get, the faster they began to add it. Those who already are subscribed to Spotify Premium for Students will simply have to switch their subscription on the Spotify app. With Spotify, Hulu could gain a stronger foothold in the American video streaming market.

The company will check if you're a student using a third-party service called SheerID.
